Willow Smith stars in the latest Acne Studios Fall/Winter 2024 campaign, embodying the brand’s forward-thinking and rebellious spirit. Known for her bold personal style, Smith perfectly matches the creative vision of Acne Studios, whose collection draws heavily on sculptural designs and edgy materials like leather and denim. This partnership reflects a shared ethos of pushing boundaries in both fashion and personal expression.
Creative director Jonny Johansson highlighted how Willow embodies the essence of a “cultural icon,” a muse who aligns with Acne’s aesthetic, which marries classic tailoring with a raw, modern edge. Johansson’s designs for this season focus on structured pieces, with dresses and outerwear crafted to emphasize shape and texture, while staying true to the brand’s origins with reimagined denim and leather staples.
The campaign brings to life this concept of empowerment through clothing. Smith’s presence in the campaign, showcasing pieces with metallic finishes and oversized silhouettes, is not just a fashion statement but a celebration of individuality and strength. The runway show, set against a backdrop of recycled tire sculptures by artist Villu Jaanisoo, reinforced the brand’s commitment to merging fashion with art, creating a powerful visual narrative.
Sustainability Focus
Acne Studios continues to prioritize sustainability in its production processes. The collection incorporates eco-friendly materials, such as organic cotton and recycled polyester, and implements reduced-waste design techniques.

Beyond the trendsetting denim collection, Acne Studios spotlights its brand-new Multipocket bag in two sizes—the Baguette and Micro. Crafted from leather with a tanned finish, the bags feature laced knot details reminiscent of the feminine coquette aesthetic, while side flap pockets add functionality.
As the start of a partnership with ILLIT, the K-pop group was front and center at the Fall/Winter 2024 catwalk show in Paris on February 28. Throughout 2024, the group is expected to be seen dressed in Acne Studios for key appearances and performances, solidifying the collaboration between fashion and music.
In the words of Jonny Johansson, “Music is a big part of my life and often inspires me; music and fashion are so intertwined. Right now, it is all about K-pop. We loved the idea of working with a band from the start of their career and growing with them. We have always supported and championed up-and-coming talents, so this felt like the right way to go about it for a new generation.” With the SS24 campaign, Acne Studios and ILLIT invite audiences to join them on a journey of creativity, self-expression, and transformation.

In the world of fashion, denim is a timeless classic, and when it meets the magnetic charm of Kylie Jenner, the result is pure sartorial magic. Acne Studios’ Fall/Winter 2023 Denim Campaign, captured through the lens of the talented Carlijn Jacobs, showcases a Kylie like you’ve never seen before – raw, authentic, and utterly captivating.
The Denim Revolution by Acne Studios
At the heart of Acne Studios lies a deep love for denim, a sentiment shared by Creative Director Jonny Johansson, who continually seeks to reimagine this iconic fabric. For the Fall/Winter 2023 collection, Johansson embraced the elegance of simplicity and the allure of distressed denim. This campaign redefines the way we perceive Kylie Jenner, placing her in a refreshingly stripped-back environment where she effortlessly flaunts Acne Studios’ latest denim creations.
Kylie confidently sports the ‘2023’ ultra-oversized, unisex jacket, paired flawlessly with the timeless ‘2021’ mid-rise, wide-leg jeans. These pieces reflect the brand’s commitment to timeless style and an avant-garde spirit.
The campaign also introduces Acne Studios’ new accessories line, where Kylie Jenner flawlessly showcases the distressed leather Multi-Pocket bag and the latest seasonal eyewear. These additions complete the effortlessly chic denim ensemble, adding a touch of contemporary flair to the classic denim look.
Carlijn Jacobs, the creative visionary behind the lens, aimed to capture Kylie Jenner’s self-assurance and self-love, introducing the concept of “two Kylies.” The campaign celebrates a woman who is unapologetically in control, fiercely embraces herself, and fearlessly pursues her desires. The visuals convey Kylie’s individuality, emphasizing her self-love and empowerment.
The entire Fall/Winter 2023 collection by Acne Studios is now available for fashion enthusiasts to explore and acquire. Whether online through Acne Studios’ webstore or at their physical stores worldwide, you can immerse yourself in this distinctive denim revolution.
Denim is the most preferred fabric globally. Acne Studios recognizes this well. Jonny Johansson, the co-founder of the Swedish brand, made 100 pairs of raw denim jeans with red stitching for friends and loyal customers in 1996. Denim has been a distinguishing feature of the company since that time, with each year seeing the addition of a new capsule collection reliving the fabric. Acne Studios has revealed its Fall/Winter 2021 denim collection, which pays homage to the brand’s origins.
The initial attempt made by Johansson laid the foundation for the brand’s apparel expansion and the creation of the Acne Studios fashion brand. Denim, according to Johansson, is the right material for experimenting with design. As a consequence, denim has always been a crucial facet of the brand image. Acne Studios’ latest collection was inspired by retro camping and outdoor life. As an outcome, the denim has subtle wear with a nature-inspired attitude.
WHAT THE DENIM COLLECTION HOLDS
Acne Studios delivers a highly versatile Fall/Winter 2021 collection. From tailored ensembles to sportswear with relaxed designs, this collection reflects the brand’s distinctive aesthetic of minimalist designs, “with humor, sexiness, and lightness,” according to the creative director. The assortment is breezy and playful, typically Acne Studios, laced with elegance and something more artful than the brand has ever done before. A coat and a full suit, for example, as well as some accessories such as gloves and a light scarf, are printed over and over again to create this blurred and busy Acne Studios logo repeats the pattern, which from afar looks like skid marks over the cotton base and is only noticeable up-close-and-personal, making the entire experience unique.
“This is a wardrobe that brings together the relaxed silhouette of sports casual with the tailored glamour from my dream of living in a band. It is menswear that is functional and minimal, with humor, sexiness, and lightness.†Says Jonny Johansson, creative director of Acne Studios.
The stars of the show are two new jeans trousers with denim wash treatments in dark brown, black, midnight blue, faded green, and clay. The first is the Tom 1991 ‘loose bootcut,’ which features a relaxed 5-pocket design, a comfortable fit, and a slightly washed-out look. A distinctive aspect is that it can be embellished with a matching miniature belt. The second category of jeans is rigid denim, which has a high waist, straight leg, and slim fit. Multi-patch and deconstruction treatments are also available on some denim variants. In addition to the pants, the range includes oversized and cropped jackets for a denim-on-denim appeal. The garments are available via Acne Studios’ stores and online.
The brand believes that its primary mission is to create desirable merchandise that consumers admire and can enjoy for a prolonged time. To support fair working conditions in the supply chain, it collaborates with transparent and responsible sourcing partners. The brand encourages employees to be creative. It urges to be a socially responsible organization that takes into account the ethical and environmental implications of its daily operations. As a result, the core of its sustainability goal is that it wants to be proud of its products – how they look, how they are built, and how they are consumed.
Acne Studios’ sustainability ambitions are implemented in this phrase : ‘Our products,’ ‘Our suppliers,’ and ‘Our operations’. Actions, targets, and results in these three domains are documented in the firm’s annual sustainability report. Following the aim to incorporate a greater proportion of preferred materials in its collections, 90% of the Face collection FW21 launched in July was sourced sustainably. All jersey and fleece cotton, for example, were organically produced, all knitwear was certified according to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), and all bags were made of recycled polyester. Since 2008, the brand has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF). They assist it in its efforts to monitor and improve labour conditions at the factories where its products are manufactured.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Acne Studios is a multidisciplinary luxury fashion house situated in Stockholm, Sweden that works primarily in ready-to-wear apparel for men and women, footwear, accessories, and denim. The label was founded in 1996 and takes its name from the creative collaborative ACNE; originally an abbreviation for Associated Computer Nerd Enterprises, it was subsequently modified to Ambition to Create Novel Expressions. Jonny Johannson, the founder, and creative director, has a keen interest in photography, art, architecture, and contemporary culture, which has enabled Acne Studios to establish itself as a renowned designer of clothes, publications, furniture, exhibitions, and unique collaborations. The brand has grown considerably with 40 retail locations around the world, and flagship stores in Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. They became very popular and covetable, resulting in Wallpaper Magazine and Vogue Paris picking up on this, urging ACNE to create more apparel and expand beyond denim.
Acne Studio released season 4 of its collection of repurposed fabrics on 3rd June. In September 2020, creative director, Jonny Johansson converted his dreams of pushing fashion forward through repurposing old fabrics and deadstock into reality by launching the first season of its collection of repurposed fabrics. This helped in reducing the production of unnecessary waste.
As the Climate crisis weighs heavily on the consumers, Acne Studio started thinking more critically about their impact on the environment and came up with these collections, these collections use fabrics and materials from past seasons to make intricate yet beautiful fashion pieces.
It’s not new to use excess fabrics post-production for a new clothing line, Alexander McQueen has been doing it for years and many indie brands have this as their USP, but now more high-profile brands like Acne Studio have started to factor this into their creative and manufacturing processes.
Season 3 was all about tie-dye but this season is about classic fabrics like soft and printed chiffons, cupro, crepe, viscose and light-colored eco-washed denim from previous seasons. Acne Studio is standing with its commitment to luxury fashion with minimal impact on the environment, from using sustainable ways to using repurposed fabrics. The season four collection is exquisite with patchworks on unexpected materials which makes it all the more mesmerizing. Not only is it produced ethically in environment-conscious ways, but it also has such beautifully made fashion pieces that will help in standing out from the crowd.
This season’s capsule has a refreshing twist to its remodeled collection as it carries a summery mood with an indication of the forthcoming warmer months.
The two-tone denim jacket comes in both lavender purple and light denim blue colors and is a beautifully apt representation of what they were going for. It comes with matching two-tone denim pants. These two pieces worn together might just be double-denim worn right. A unique flair dress made with repurposed curpo is what will definitely catch eyes of the onlookers with its completely distinct style. Other Items include patchwork denim jeans, simple tees and nylon sweaters.
Acne Studio has done a great job in this repurposed collection, the pieces are marvelous but what makes it better is their resolution of contributing to the environment . Though noble, such efforts have currently more of a symbolic value than making any real effect on the ground. They are good for Marketing and PR and partly for consumer awareness . The prices of such re-purposed items are really high and naturally so as it involves going into extreme details for each piece. However, the disadvantage is that the average consumer is left out of the loop as the pricing structure is out of his/ her reach. Brands sell them as unique one-offs at hundreds of dollars a piece. There has to be some way whereby the brands and retailers are able to sell these pieces at prices which have a small premium over regular productions. We wait for that day and for the time when REAL IMPACT is felt in production processes and at the environment level.
