Mavi Spring Summer 2014 Mens Lookbook

Double denim attire was an anathema a few years back after having been popular in the late 90s.Â Wearing denim on denim was considered a sacrilege in fashion circles till very recently. But now most denim brands seem to be focusing on pairing denim tops (jackets, shirts) with jeans to bring out that cool look for the fashionistas. The Mavi SSâ€™14 lookbook is again pointing in this direction . Printed denim shirts, short jackets , light washed shirts have been paired with similarÂ washed jeans . The pairing is not necessarily in contrasting colors as normally seen with double denim attires. Light and bleached out washes have been used extensively. Calvin Klein SS’ 14 Men’s Lookbook

Calvin Klein , in their SSâ€™14 collection for men, brings out some cool double denim looks pairing contrasting washes and interesting hues of denim s in tops and bottoms to bring that quintessential all denim look for males. The pairing of double denims is well thought of and does not look overwhelming. Skinny fit seems to be the preferred style for jeans while crackle andÂ pigment washed looksÂ are being used for the jackets. Ice washes , grey colors are all too prominent in the jeans and cannot be missed.

Replay SS’ 14 Men’s Denim Lookbook

The coming Spring Summer 2014 denim collection of Replay has lots of ripped and destroyed shirts and jackets. They use some eye catching styles and details and styles including slouchier jeans,Â heavy sprays and bleaches, some patchwork , creating two tones using multiple fabrics and very contrasting washes on the upper and lower parts of the jeans. Subdued patterns in prints are visible mainly in the shirts and double , triple denims combinations are created using combinations of indigo casts and colors, prints etc and can be very pleasing for consumers (and denim suppliers!). Replay men’s summer lookbook is about good old work wear inspired outfits. Grunge inspiration is visible on the collection , but distressing on jeans seems to be missing. The styles are casual and models look at ease â€“ giving an original appearance. Colors are conspicuous by their absence except for one nice red color jeans.

Siwy–SS’14 Denim Lookbook

The Spring/Summer look book and collection from Siwy takes a bleached and distressed route. Most of their jeans are distressed and shredded â€“ a bit too much. However, the locale of the shot is interesting.Â The look book is shot at an aeroplane hanger and features a white private jet. Nothing says exclusivity,taste and elegance like high end luxury denim and a private jet.Â The look book features bleached out white denims, some colors, lot of metallics and printed denim.Sequins, studs, mirrors, and metallics are used to add glitter to the jeans. Summer shorts dominate the look book and overalls make their presence felt in the collection.

Calvin Klein SS’ 14 Women’s Lookbook

Calvin Klein came up with its Womenâ€™s SS’14 Collection. While grey seems to be the new in-color , boy friend looks have been used in jeans and trousers . Double and triple denim are easily carried off by models withÂ different interesting fabric, color and washÂ combinations using fabrics like chambrays , raw and super stretches , colors like white , grey and dark unwashed indigo and washes going upto super bleaches. Trucker jackets add further spice to the collection.

SS’ 14 Looks from Cheap Monday
For Spring 2014, Cheap Monday playsÂ with the idea of hubris and makes inflatable egos visible through an exaggerated silhouette and narcissistic graphics. The collection is confident with an in-your-face aesthetic and kick-ass attitude, channeling bold artists from the 90s.

A decisive street look from that time period emphasizes this new direction. Patchwork has an important place in the collection.Â Seasonal key colours are black, white and grey marl, where prints play an important part. Spring/Summer 2014 certainly has a subdued palette with emphasis on such colors.Gone are the bright pastel colors that marked previous SS collections.Â The cut is a lot more relaxed whilst maintaining the clean lines that the brand has come to be known for. The Spring 2014 Collection consists of three themes;
- Exaggerated Silhouette
- Fragmented Reality
- Buffalo Riot.
Exaggerated Silhoutte features egocentric prints, intarsia text, fat stripes and contrasting silhouettes. Fragmented Reality is defined by collage prints, prints on prints, patchwork looks, cut-outs, large details and gold.
More is more is the motto for the final theme, Buffalo Riot. Tribal style lettering in prints and graphics, a bright palette and color coatings make up the themeâ€™s cartoonish aesthetic and strong street vibe. As a whole, the Cheap Monday Spring 2014 Collection makes no apologies and embraces the narcissim of our age, while it at the same time pays homage to the orginal mes, myselves and Is.
