    Vetements Fall 2018 Denim Looks

Vetements – the french designer label – has been in news ever since they launched in 2009. Headed by Georgia born designer – Demna Gvaslia – the brand has been bringing out collections which stand apart and are stocked from Pret-a-porter to Nordstrom. The label prides itself in being unpredictable with their various activities – whether its avoiding the traditional fashion calendar, using pictures only for a presentation in a car park ! , casting people on the street and so on. The element of surprise is always on for Vetements followers.

This element of unpredictability is what sometimes creates great interest in their collection. For their Fall’18 collection , they have either used embroideries, patches, stickers ,paintings differentially washed leg panels, frayed hemmed, overlapping  or a combination of these to get the desired looks for a streetstyle wear. Vogue termed this collection as FLEA  MARKET CHIC and it sounds perfectly worded ! Anti-fit and Anti – balance is another concept that they have used while stitching the different panels o the jeans/jacket to create patterns and an entirely differently angled aesthetic. Many of the pieces stand out while some others can be easily considered ‘funny’ !

  • Ready To Wear 2018 Runway Denim Collection Part – IV

Ready To Wear 2018 Runway Denim Collection Part – IV

This is the fourth and final part of the Ready to Wear 2018 denim collection from some of the important labels around the world. In this part , we bring the looks from A.P.C , Tom Ford and Stella McCartney . APC , as always , focuses on the Raw denims and brings special looks for the females. A predominantly male brand,  A.P.C is now trying to appeal to the fairer sex with long coats and short jackets in raw denims. They also bring paint splattered jeans which are not a trademark of the brand. Stella McCartney goes very casual with overalls  , coats and jackets in spring colors achieved by multi process washing including overdyeds. Tom Ford uses unwashed denims and use styling to create a visually appealing collection of complete double, triple (and more..) denim dresses for females. Unwashed denims with great lustre and fall have been used by the designer to get attractive looks for females – even getting bras, shoes and purses with the same fabric. The challenge is for the mills to create fabrics which can enable create such collections by the designers like him.

  • Ready To Wear 2018 Runway Denim Collection Part – III

Ready To Wear 2018 Runway Denim Collection Part – III

Further to our previous two articles on Ready to Wear 2018 collections from luxury labels, we bring the next few ones in the article below. The list includes Alexander Wang – who focuses on using embellishments and studds on one leg to give that premium touch besides distressed shorts paired with leather leggings to give ladies freedom to experiment with their denims . Antonio Marras brings back the brocade and embroidered looks of the Victorian era in denim jackets .Sonia Rykel uses the , currently in trend, light and dark colored panels of unwashed denims and elegant stitching and Zadig and Voltaire again uses unwashed lustrous denims to use only topstitching and minor embellishments to create luxury effects on denim. Unwashed denims have been increasingly used by the labels for their collections and it entails that the mills must make the denim fabrics which have enough character, enough luster and enough flair and fall to be used without any support from washing to stand out on its own as a fashion fabric !

G-Star RAW Research III by Aitor Throup–First Foray Into Womenswear

Likewise each season, G-Star RAW  has unveiled its 3rd Installment of Raw Research, led by Atior Throup ( Executive Creative Director), which is schedule to arrive on December 15 at selected concept stores worldwide, such as L.A.’s FourTwoFour on Fairfax, H. Lorenzo, Dover Street Market in Tokyo and SSENSE. This lot is special as it has , unlike previous two editions, included the women’s range for the first time.

With an objective to redefine conventional denim , the research has brought some amazing innovations on the table by deconstructing it to its purest form: undyed, unwashed and untreated raw denim. A 20-piece men’s and women’s undyed calico collectio was presented .The focus product is SPRIAQ JEAN — a moulded garment that’s engineered around the leg to deliver a perfect 3D fit. The difference is that hte jeans does not have 2 panels like in traditional jeans but is one complete piece wrapped around boths sides of the leg in a spiral formation.

The Raw Research lab is experimenting with fabrics and styles in a unique way. Unique addons in this collection include Straps, Detachable hoods, Large back pockets in jackets and totally oversized fits. Whether these styles would add to functionality or not , we are not sure, but they will surely a big military kind of gear to put on !

Check out the ecru fabric collection for women for Spring 2018 below :

Ready To Wear 2018 Runway Denim Collection Part – I

Many labels have brought out their Ready to Wear Spring Collections for 2018 on the runway. We try to capture the essence of collections from luxury labels like  Versace, Dior, Chanel and Alexander Mcqueen. While Versace created “BLUE GOLD” looks  with their combination of denim jackets /jeans with heavily gold colored skirts and tops; Chanel played soft   with different interpretations of a multi color streaked indigo fabric in tops and bottoms. Christian Dior used variegated washed panels of same fabric to combine to create elegant coats and pants with netted indigo caps adding to the aristocratic looks from denim . Alexander Mcqueen played with multiple seams , disjointed sleeves and fabric combinations of non-denim for their Ready to Wear collection.
