Paul & Joe goes for clean and suit cuts for its Fall 16 Denim looks. Medium dark light slub flat finish fabrics add to the formal looks created by the designer.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren loves the hi-fashion looks to go with denim. Denim is made over with highly fashionable silver foil prints to go along with velvet jackets and accoutrements .

Kenzo

Kenzo is always looked upon as an inspirational brand brining new paradigms to most of their collections. Though not minimalist as previous ones, the Fall 16 collection draws  inspiration from  fifties housewife staples, such as cigarette pants and pumps and bring out the collection with high colored mini dresses , floral prints and motifs besides nautical influences. Overall, a different type of collection than what we have seen before .

Vicunha showed a visual feast of creative and innovative men’s and ladies denim wear. Here is what the Vicunha creative team had to say about their collection.

“To reflect the Playground theme the collection encompassed the spirit of the Athleisure trend by showing products with both attitude and comfort. Garments provided maximum impact as they showcased washes from Martelli and Comask in key shapes blurring the lines between active and casualwear.At the pinnacle of the collection were fabrics from the’ Athletic range’, a range of fabrics which perfectly addresses the crossover between sportswear and leisure. The fabrics remain denim on the outside but feel like a jog pant on the inside. This gives the wearer total freedom of movement whilst providing all the character and wash effects achievable on denim. New technological advancements featured strongly, these were showcased in many of the ‘perfect fit’ ladies jeans, offering high performance and advanced technology with an ‘ultra soft’ touch.Both Essential and premium denims featured across both men’s and ladies wear showing the flexibility of many of the articles and the trend of comfort and ease of movement into menswear.Authentic articles washed in new and innovative ways, recycled and reinvented tradition and heritage into something new, desirable and tangible. Loved, worn and mended styles epitomized this look and encompassed the ethos of this trend. NY Fashion week brings collections from some of the high end and cool designers together at one place. Many of these designers  are exuberant and  glamorous. Marc Jacobs is one such designer. This season he brought out in catholic tendencies and orientations and the effect could be seen on his collection with denim  used for flowing gowns and dresses and Victorian age looks. A fresh uptake for the denim industry !

Alexander Wang SPRING 2016 READY-TO-WEAR

Alexander Wang , on the event of 10th anniversary of his collection, threw himself a big bash selling his tees and sweats which help the organization’s social change efforts. His collection was a like a rock show with a host of pole dancers and  a melange of celebrities on the front row.

The denim collection saw some wide stripes and essentially denim shorts that were so distressed that they could just be worn over other ensembles .

Hood By Air SPRING 2016 READY-TO-WEAR

If getting shocked was the objective, the collection Hood By Air would be the one to see . With highly non-conformist and non-contemporary looks, the denim collection of the designer really set one to think whether denim could be used in such ways.

Diesel Black Gold SPRING 2016 READY-TO-WEAR

Diesel Black Gold had the staples: biker jackets and denim. The denim was more predictive – dark, rugged and low slung.  The brand’s biker signature was worked into buckle details and sharp-looking dungarees and leather overall dresses.

Tommy Hilfiger SPRING 2016 READY-TO-WEAR

The boho textile was all over the collection, including the neckline of patchwork and billowing chiffon dresses. The pieces were straight out of 70s bohemian wardrobe and reminded of free spirited travelers going to Jamaica.

3.1 Phillip Lim SPRING 2016 MENSWEAR

Stripe denims and patchworks seem to be the key for Phillip Lim SS’16 collection.

FASHIONIM – Fashion in Denim – event was held at our 3rd Denimsandjeans Bangladesh show on 1st March at Dhaka. Three of our exhibitors displayed their SS’16 collections at the show. Vicunha Textil from Brazil was one of the sponsors of the show and displayed their products during the catwalk which included their following product categories. – Carbolumen : stylish and modern fabrics with perfect fit, cold touch, brightness and as sophisticated as leather. The perfect combination of intense and bright colors with Leather look, provided by the special finishing CARBOLumen.
