Fabric Compositions In Women’s Jeans Styles

An analysis of the fabric composition of Levi’s women’s jeans in July 2024 reveals
valuable information about the materials used. The data indicates that ‘100% Cotton’
remains the dominant composition, maintaining a significant share of 24% throughout the
month. This data is displayed from 178 styles out of 183 which were having descriptions
present.

The data on women’s jeans fits from Levi’s USA for July 2024 provides valuable insights
into evolving consumer preferences for various styles. It’s important to acknowledge that
fit categories can be overlapping, as a single style can combine multiple features (e.g., slim
fit at the top, flared at the bottom, and high rise.

The light-washed Racing Jacket, which takes cues from the classic McLaren Racing era, features an embossed veg tan leather co-branded patch, twill stitching at the cuff and hem, a satin inner, and a cropped, boxy fit. The Racing Suit offers a wide fit for maximum comfort with its light wash, vintage-inspired patches, crackling print along the right leg, and the same co-branded patch.

The three-tone Racing Gloves, made of Italian leather and modeled after historic McLaren Racing graphics, go well with the racing suit. Bruce McLaren’s autograph is embroidered on the gloves, and the McLaren emblem is debossed. The medium-washed Heritage Trucker Jacket has a boxy shape with red accents on the center-front zipper, elbow pintucks, and patches with a vintage vibe.

The red tape welt zipper pocket at the top, patches, and a shadow pocket with a crackle print all contribute to the Heritage 501 Jeans’ antique aesthetic. The Racing Bandana, which reimagines traditional Levi’s® western patterns with ’80s-inspired McLaren designs, pairs nicely with the Constructors Tee, which boasts a timeless design with a printed front graphic of a McLaren race vehicle.

The collection honors the heritage of both McLaren Racing and Levi’s®. Launched on July 3rd, this is Levi’s® most notable motorsport initiative, taking place prior to McLaren’s home race, the British Grand Prix. The collection has the renowned speedmark insignia throughout and pays tribute to Bruce McLaren, the founder of McLaren Racing.

On July 3rd, the Levi’s® x McLaren Racing Collection went on sale on Levi.com, the Levi’s® App, and in a few Levi’s® Stores.

The primary objective of this report is to study Levi’s USA’s online offerings in the
men’s and women’s jeans. The period of study is from Jun’23 to May’24. In delving into
Levis USA’s recent strategies trends, a comprehensive examination reveals intriguing
insights across various facets of their product offerings. Let’s explore the key findings:

• Price levels of Levi’s USA men’s and women’s jeans currently at the online retail level
• We evaluated 12 months of e-comm sales from Jun’23 to May’24 for Levi’s USA on the basis of prices, discounts, gender, fits, rise, stretch etc in order to find out differences during this period.
• We also analyzed the top few compositions which were used during this time by Levi’s USA in their women’s and men’s jeans.
• We studied about 4055 product styles sold online by Levi’s USA to arrive at the following graphs to give deeper insights into the brands consumer facing front.

Graphs included :

• Discounted products and Total approx no of men jeans styles and women’s jeans styles offered by this brand online during these 6 months.
• Percentage of products on discounts for both men’s and women’s jeans.
• The maximum and the minimum price in each category.

Total Number Of Products And Number Of Products On Discount For Men’s And Women’s Jeans

We recently had done a report on Levi’s men jeans where we analysed the online sales of men jeans in USA on various parameters. You may refer to this report here . On the same lines, we are now analyzing the Men’s Jeans product offerings for the month of Aug’23 , Feb’23 and Sept’22 . This report covers :

1) How is the pricing of Levi’s Men Jeans currently  at the online retail level. What kind of price bands does it fall into.. Also we tried to find how much the brand was discounting during this period as the markets have not been very good over the last year and there has been huge discounting done by retailers to get rid of their stocks. It  helps to understand the strength or weakness of the brand  during such trying  times. 

2) We evaluated 3 months of sales ie  Aug 2023 ,Feb 2023 and Sept 2022 to see what differences we can note related to various aspects of the products during these 3 months. 

These aspects include FITS, MATERIALS/ COMPOSITIONS ,  DEFINITIONS etc . 

3) We also wanted to understand how the composition of cotton has panned out during these 3 different months. The composition of fabrics used for the jeans does reflect the particular focus of a brand where it tries to get a good balance between sustainability and fashion. We analyze the top few compositions which were most used during this time by Levi’s in their men jeans. We also wanted to see if the brand was  strategizing on its fiber inputs and does it reflect in its recent assortment of product offerings . We shall bring out a table with all the most popular compositions along with a complete table of all compositions for our readers to analyze themselves. . 

4) We studied about 100  product styles  in each of these months (though actual number varies according to month) to arrive at the following charts and graphs to give  deeper insights into the brands consumer facing front .

a) Total approx no of men jeans styles  in each of these months sold online 

b) The average pricing of all these jeans

c) Average discounting in each of these months and average pricing after discounts. 

d) Approx FIT breakup of styles during each of these months. This will reflect if Levi’s has changed its Fits in a big way during this period or not. 

e) Most popular compositions during these months. We will list out the major compositions used (and in how many styles ) during each month to give an idea of kind of fibers being used for the fabrics . 

f) RIGID vs STRETCH – we try to analyze how the styles pan out in regards to their stretchability in various months. Is Levi’s moving towards more rigid fabrics in their styles or not . 

f) Cotton % on an average from the whole stable of styles on offer . Is the overall cotton % used in the products going up or down ? We will try to analyse that. 

We also calculate the approximate average composition of various fibers in these 3 months for levi’s styles on offer. This gives insights into trends of changing fiber usage , focus on sustainable fibers etc by the brand and much more in this 26 page report.

LEVI WOMEN JEANS STYLES

As we can see from below figures, the women jeans stable of Levi’s USA sold online had approximately  119 women jeans  styles in August 2022 , about 153 styles in Jan 2023 and about 166 styles in July  2023  . The number has increased over the last 1 year as we can see in the following graph.

To give one a new wardrobe staple, denim giant Levi’s brings in the new ’90s 501 jeans which are inspired by the vintage stance, putting us on a nostalgia for the classic Levi’s 501 denim. Levi’s launched a new take on its iconic 501 jeans on December 1, and the brand collaborated with American Model Hailey Bieber to do so.

Hailey Bieber is never hesitant about her passion for all things ’90s-inspired, and in her latest Levi’s campaign, the 25-year-old model shared her perspective on the legendary decade.

“I’ve talked a lot about ’90s silhouettes, ’90s movies, ’90s supermodels, ’90s actors and actresses, and it’s just fascinating to me,” she said in an exclusive interview with Levi’s.

WHAT ONE GETS IN THE NEW 501 JEANS

While the original Levi’s 501 ’90s jeans have never fallen out of style, the new Levi’s 501 ’90s jeans are likely to become a slightly distinct sort of staple this season.

The jean rests just below the waist and has a more relaxed fit through the seat and leg, offering a fashionable yet roomier fit that can be scaled up or down depending on how the customer chooses to wear it. The fit lets people attain a slouchy, laid-back aesthetic without becoming baggy all around. The 501 ’90s jeans come in two washes and sizes ranging from 23 to 34, with inseams of 30′′ and 32′′. Drew Me In, which Hailey appears to be wearing in the campaign pictures, and Mad Love are the two medium washes that have been launched.

“It’s a jean that’s not only physically comfortable but taps into that nostalgia of a jean you loved and wore back in the day,” said Jill Guenza, Levi’s Strauss & Co. vice president of design for women’s apparel. While finishes have been pristine and stonewashed for a long time, Guenza believes it is good to showcase a comeback to well-worn and vintage-inspired jeans.

All of the pairs were made using the brand’s WaterLess technique, which uses up to 96 per cent less water than traditional denim finishing. The Levi’s 501 90s retails for $98-$108. For now, these jeans are only available to buy on the Levi’s App.

THE AD CAMPAIGN

Levi’s has long been a household denim classic, and Hailey Bieber has always been an admirer and face of the brand. Hailey has gladly revealed her go-to pair of the season. In an interview, she earlier stated that she enjoys “a baggier denim fit more than anything.” According to the brand, the new 501 ’90s jeans are almost precisely Hailey’s style.

She fronts a series of studio pictures photographed by Stevie Dance for the campaign. She is dressed in a white tank top and Drew Me In jeans in a medium wash. The shoot is styled by Andrew Mukamal, who has tousled tresses by hairdresser Bryce Scarlett and equally impressive makeup by Nina Park. “It’s cool to look upon an era that you were born into and just draw inspiration”, said Hailey.

Earlier this year, Levi’s celebrated its iconic 501 Originals style with its campaign featuring a diverse group of stars. Hailey Bieber, Naomi Osaka, Barbie Ferreira, and Emma Chamberlain appeared in-studio images captured by Micaiah Carter. Known for its durability, the cast wore 501 Original pieces ranging from jean jackets to casual t-shirts and straight-cut jeans. The brand’s ambassadors showcased their favorite ways to style and wear their 501s. The campaign evoked a spirit of creativity, authenticity, self-expression, and originality.
