Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2017 Ready To Wear Instagrammable Collection !

Its not many times that you see Tommy Hilfiger come out with such an Instagrammable collection with social media in mind !

A collaboratiion with Giga Hadid who used her beach background and reference to some archives to bring out a 90s patchworked , hand embroidered jazzy collection which can be an instant hit on social media among the young cool generation of today ! The designer used the patchworks , embroideries, stripes, motifs and mixed fabrics to get stunning looks and a throwback to that carefree era of 80s and 90s ! Even the plain chinos got young and elevated with the embroideries and patchworks !

The collection launch was also unique in other ways. It was launched in California and not NY. The designer used the fashion event to show his solidarity for the #TiedTogether movement, by getting his models to sport white bandanas in protest of Donald Trump’s anti-refugee order attaching a political view to the launch .

Do we smell correctly that the DENIM MASHUP theme is getting stronger and stronger ?

Exclusive Gucci Denim Jacket For Their SS17 Campaign

The luxury brand recently unveiled its limited edition of denim jacket collection for Dover Street Market(DSM) which is going to release worldwide on January 14,2017 with a wallet emptying price of approx. USD 3,300 . The DSM-exclusive collection consists of a stonewashed denim jacket which has embroideries of dogs and bees and features a red Gucci brand tag to differentiate the pieces from their originals from the ’70s. The denim jacket is richly embellished with needlepoint florals and cats and dogs. The appliqués are applied by hand, a process that takes hours to complete. The textured fabric has a heavyweight and soft feel that is obtained from a stone washing treatment. The jeans is made in Italy.. The jacket caters to the ever growing DENIM MASHUP theme which is witnessing a revival from the 90s. Though the price is EXHORBITANT and without the Gucci label probably would not get 10% of this price, it is a good trend direction for many brands downstream for the fashion legup !

Resort 2017 | Givenchy Denim Looks

For the Resort 2017 , Givenchy prefers, like before, to have black and white pics for their collection for their own reasons, but it is sometimes difficult to make out the quality of denim from these pics. However, we can still make out that most of the washes are Retro with salt and pepper effects, bit of mashup designs with differential weight and color fabrics and leathers, heavier fabrics, Super dark blacks with added leather elbows and knees , cool jacquards for both tops and bottoms, and sprinkled distresses. On the whole the collection looks interesting. Your take on this ?

Trends From London Fashion Week SS–17 | Part-I

The recent London Fashion Week brought out design talent from some of the most well known designers like Marques Almeida , Faustine Steinmetz, Victoria Beckham etc as well as some not so well known ones. But all of them added their own unique signatures to the SS-17 Ready to wear Collections . We focus on the denim part of these collections though the rest of the collections were equally or more gorgeous !

Marques ‘ Almeida

Some fashion forward jeans from the designers who made their name with denim could be seen on the runway. Included in the denim part of collection were some frayed end denim jackets and bell jeans, slip dresses , denim long boots and some extra long jeans to cover the shoes ! Marques Almeida never fail to surprise !

Faustine Steinmetz

Faustine Steinmetz has been known for her recycled denim in high end looks. This time she continues the saga of high fashion items using Swarovski crystals, ombre looks and combining recycled cotton and polyester. Models were, for a change, not walking but displayed the garments while reclining under low studio lights – taking away the detailed looks that people want to have on her garments.

Ashish

The Indian designer gave a very ethnic look to this collection including denim. Denim got an ethnic makeover with detailed embroideries and embellishments. Bollywood angle also reflected in some of his pieces !

Victoria Victoria Beckham

Relaxed looks with added elements of embroideries, inside out pockets and striped seams made the collection look laid back. The designer seems to be going for simple and wearable looks in her denim pieces.

Mother of Pearl

This collection marked the first time Mother of Pearl has used denim. Elegantly used, the Mother of Pearl woman gave the impression of a woman in charge of her own sexiness, flaunting and checking it in equal measure.

Versus Versace

Extreme distressing on bleached denim was the highlight of Versus Versace Denim looks. Created for the Bad and a Rebel girl who breaks the rule, the models wore the expression to match the denim and the typically rebel girl.

Belstaff

In 1916 two descendants of President Martin Van Buren, Augusta and Adeline, refused to accept the U.S. government’s refusal to recruit women as military dispatch riders in World War I: To prove their worth, they would ride their Indian motorcycles across the nation. Leaving in July and arriving in September they crossed from Brooklyn to Los Angeles, and were detained several times along the way by local police who held them for wearing masculine clothes. Though they did not get the desired response from military , the Van Buren girls went on to other exploits. But their story was a great context for Belstaff designers to create jeans for the rebel women bikers !

Christopher Shannon Men’s Wear : SS17 Collection

Christopher Shannon is an unpredictable designer. His strength lies in his ability to use the everyday things into his collection in a very innovative way. He specializes in streetwear for the men and most of his collections are visually astounding.

In his SS17 collection, the designer used denim as the prime fabric . His following design uses belt loops extensively on the jeans and jacket both to create an impression of a fur ensemble.

He created tight fitting sweat suits using different indigo hues for that sporty street look.

Jackets which revealed more than they hid paired with jeans having a hanging garment as a decoration.

Jeans super distressed at crotch or pockets and back.

Nice combination of indigo wash down colors, and the missing knees !

Fire Made In Japan–By Jil Sanders

Jil Sander, the German fashion designer – a minimalist and often described as the QUEEN OF LESS , came out with came out with a denim collection from her Jil Sanders Fashion House with a modern grunge attitude , bit rock in nature however equally luxuriant , strong but vulnerable . The famous designer has had a turbulent career with many ups and downs and she comes out with some unique collections to jump back again.

The capsule denim collection “Fire made in Japan” is a cool conceptualism of women and men’s wear and is entirely made in Japan.

The collection and the name are inspired by the Japanese ‘ Yakisugi’ the traditional Japanese wood treatment process of giving the lumber a burnt look, which was recreated in the capsule by treating the items with an extremely resistant and long-lasting texture to achieve a dark glossy charcoal effect.

The color palette has largely been dark in the collection ranging from charcoal,blue black and black to some shades of dark pink. The collection is designed to break gender boundaries with both men and women able to wear it .

M.i.h Jeans, the female denim brand from London, brings some creative takes on denims in its SS17 collections. It seems the label wants to declare ‘FLARES ARE IN’ with most of its jeans in the flare cuts. Also the collection seems to be partly inspired by the Japanese and we can see some nice Denim Kimonos and Overalls to back this up!
