TOP 5 COUNTRIES SUPPLYING DENIM FABRICS TO MEXICO IN MAY 2020
[private_special] In the month of May 2020, Mexico has imported approx. 1.32 million sqm of denim fabrics.
CHINA is the biggest exporter of Denim Fabric to Mexico with a total volume of about 0.7 million sqm. Comparing to last year, China witnessed a massive fall of 93% in its export to Mexico.
In our previous report, it has been learnt that China lost a huge share in the Colombian Denim Industry also. As far as Mexico is concerned, the trend remained the same, China’s share to Mexico Denim Industry dropped from 74% to 53%. On the other hand, India has increased its share from 7% to a whopping 32%.

India performed really very well comparing to last year. India emerged as the 2nd biggest denim supplier which exported 0.41 million sqm, India exported 0.30 million sqm in May 2019. In May 2020, India’s export to Mexico rose by 35.60%.
Apart from India, a great surge has been observed in the Japan export also.
(Note: this data has been captured from various govt organizations including customs. the actual imports are likely to be higher than this figure . Also we need to understand that the prices are sometimes not correct representations as in Mexico there are many suppliers under reporting the actual price for custom benefits )

As far as the average price is concerned, Major countries have lowered their prices in the month of May 2020 compared to the last month. Japan is the most expensive supplier however China is still the most competitive one.

TOP COMPANIES IMPORTING DENIM IN MEXICO
So far as the import of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, Warehouse Jeans and KOOS Mexico are the two biggest importers of denim fabric into Mexico with the total import of 0.33 million sqm and 0.19 million sqm of denim fabric respectively.
There are some new buyers emerged during the month of May 2020 comparing to May 2019, Comercializadora and FS Industrias are some of the prominent names.

As far as the average price is concerned, Major buyers have imported the fabrics relatively at lower prices in the month of May 2020 compared to the last month. Koos Mexico bought at the most expensive price which is $3.64/sqm .
