Denim by PV Shanghai Show Oct 2013

The third edition of Denim by PV Asia will be held at Shanghai on 22nd and 23rd Oct. Over 25 companies from the denim supply chain will participate in the show.Â The show will also feature an open table conference on â€˜Responsible Creationsâ€. This conference is organized in collaboration with C.L.A.S.S â€“ an Italian forum .The speakers will include Luca Galvani (Sustainable and compliance manager ), Georgio Armani, Enrique Silla from Jeanologia and others. Different companies and mills will showcase their products including Isko which will showcase their XMenâ€™s , Reform and other products, Soorty which will show their Natureâ€™s Beauty , Candy Floss and other looks, Kassim denim from Pakistan will bring out their sustainable collections etc .

Denim by PV : A/W 14-15 Trends -II

rFurther to our previous report on Denim by PV trends Part I, we are now updating the second part of the report.

First of all check out this presentation which will gives looks from the trend area and then we check out further what other companies have been doing.

We missed Candiani , Italy, at the show as they had set up their own show very nicely on a boat on the Seine riverÂ on the occasion of their 75th anniversary!

Some of the trends which have been reinforced are :

a)Knit denim effect : The dobby structures are creating waves with a softer feel and higher stretch capabilities and not to speak of Knit like effect.Â Knit denims are adding much desired alternative looks for denim.

b)Laser techniques : Lasers are now being extensively being used on fabrics as well as garments to bring out real special effects â€“ including print looks. It becomes difficult to sometimes understand whether the garment is printed or lasered.

c)Flocked and jacquard denims: Floral and other patterns were created using jacquard weaving techniques and also flocking on the fabrics.Â A number of companies have introduced the jacquard woven fabrics in their collection to cater to high end and fashionista brands.

d)Multi- hues : Multiple shades on the fabric using double, triple dye colors and with a mix of coating, overdyeing techniques have been created to give that pop up of contrasting colors and to enable garment to take on different hues on different levels of washing.

Lasers by Jeanologia , Spain

Jeanologia came out with some real amazing garments looks created by laser techniques. The garments had laser cut patterns mixed with different kinds of print / distressed and other looks and it made it difficult to find if the jeans / garment was actually laseredâ€¦

Invista

Invista displayed their premium denim related products including Tough Max â€“ which helps in creating denim twice as strong as 100% cotton, Super stretch looks with Lycra and T400, black T400 wefts and other products. A video here will give more details about their products.

Orta Anadolu- Turkey

Orta came out with some interesting concepts:

Winter Blues :A celebration of one of the worldâ€™s oldest dyes, this fabric is yarn dyed, over-dyed and indigo coated, yielding deep blacks and dark blues with rich and vivid contrast while maintaining a natural hand-feel in rigid and stretch variations.

Dare Denim : Made with environmentally friendly processes and high-tech fibers, this fabric is sustainable and highly functional, sporting tough durability, thermo-regulation, abrasion resistance, water-repellent finishes and anti-bacterial properties.

Fits Well– Performance stretch offering both flexibility and high recovery in denim .

Hantex â€“ Pakistan

Hantex – Denim clothing company – from Pakistan, came out with a number of knit looks including prints ,Â besides some novel and interesting washing patterns on jeans.Â Â

Denim by PV : A/W: 14-15 Trends–I
During our recent coverage of Denim by PV- Denim CIRCUS – show held at Paris , we met a number of important companies displaying their new Autumn Winter â€“14/15 Collections . A number of prime trends emerged from the show :

In this first part of the report, we will cover few companies from the companies and their products from the show.

Arvind Mill â€“ India

Arvind is one of the largest denim companies in the world. . First of all, here is a video on a chat with Mr Aamir Akhtar- CEO Arvind â€“ which gives us some idea about what Arvind is doing and what type of products they brought out.

With a focus on design, sustainability and innovation , ArvindÂ brought out someÂ technological concepts like:
- Neo Denim â€“ A new way of dyeing denim which is much more sustainable as per Arvind and hardly uses any water in the process of dyeing and maintains a deep dyeing look. This includes indigo and color dyeing on corduroy fabrics .
- Mink Finish â€“ A finish which gives very soft handle to stretch denims.
- Gloss finish â€“ bringing out high sheen and gloss on the fabrics.
- Spice denim â€“Â 100% cotton Ecru fabric which can be dyed to bring out the warp dyed look in garment dyeing.

Isko â€“ Turkey

Isko introduced new concepts like :

New Book â€“ Leather textures..
PJ Soft â€“ Modal fibers used to create very soft touch. Also with a high elasticity
Recall fabrics â€“ with very highÂ recovery and softness.
Blue Vision â€“ WIth Spectra finish which gives shiny and leathery effects.
X-Mens– With more than a comfort elasticity but still gives look of a rigid raw fabric.
Phantom coat- Textural printing and layered color coatings to create multi dimensional artistic look .
Ferra Colors: Alternative to traditional indigo providing a palette to the color range.
Smashed : A process that gives fabrics a shiny look and lighter feel .
OverDarks:Also fabric like saturated and shiny blacks were seen in the collection.

Bossa â€“ Turkey

A video below shows a chat with Sedef Unku â€“ Marketing Manager â€“ from Bossa in which she explains the new concepts introduced by Bossa.

Bossa Denim – Turkey

Pure Blue: Pure indigo colors enriched with shiny coatings and raw and unwashed looks.
Up inÂ the Woods : Name comes from color used in this palette. Inspired by sand, ocean, woods etc and the colors are used in warp and weft of the fabrics.
More than skin : Super stretches with modal cotton blends .
Ultranero : Super dark blacks which stays blackÂ . Period !
Weft Games : A lot of playing with the wefts to bring out tech products.

The company also brought out niche selvedge products with focus on special finishes, coatings, shiny treatmentsÂ and colored wefts to give a value addition to these fabrics.

Tavex â€“ Spain

A chat with Richard Tobin from Tavex gives an idea of the new collection in the video below.

Tavex came out with
- Saturated black colors .
- Super shiny looks
- Multi color looks with various production techniques including
  colored fills, deep colors with casts – fabrics which bring out different character after wash downs.
- Super softs and supple fabrics
- Coatings – the company plays with a lot of coats in the front and the back – on different fabrics . The coatings are also breathable .
Soorty â€“ Pakistan

Participating for the first time in the PV and recently certified to produce the X-Fit fabrics, the company came out with the following concepts .
Sustainable collection: Collection based on recycled fabrics and other waste reducing processes.
Candy Floss : Different hues in fabrics with overdyeing and other processes.
Cowboy : They are rugged and dipped in the shades of western culture. Deep dark, heavy weight fabrics made for western.
Elite: Elite is a fabric which stands out in terms of shine, look and texture. Targeted for the high end segment ..
Natureâ€™s Beauty : Character of fabric changed by giving a different casts.
X-fits : Dual stretches.

Artistic Milliners â€“ Pakistan

Artistic Milliners , the group from Pakistan which is coming out with a LEEDS certified factory shortly ,Â came out with denim products including :
- Micro Modal â€“ for that super soft feelingÂ for the ladies apparel . The micro modal fibre is derived from peach trees. Produced by Lenzing , the fibre is used in over 50% weight of the fabric to give that super soft touch which women are looking for.
- Lolita : Designs and printsÂ with PU, glitter , pigment and others.
- X-fit : Dual stretch, the company is X-fit certifiiedÂ to bring out
- Structures and jacquards : A mix of weaves of jacquards and dobbies.
- Love by : Again lots ofÂ lyocellÂ fibers in this collection.
ITV â€“ Italy

Flock, prints , super softsÂ and the Wine dyed (sustainable) fabrics were some of the items inÂ ITV collection which they focused on . We are also presenting a video on a chat with the ITV team.

The company had a lot of prints, shiny looks, coatings, and other treatments to cater to high fashion brands.

Calik â€“ Turkey

Calik from Turkey had come out with the Lokum Coffee concept . The company worked on a design concept which movesÂ from garment styling backwards to fabric development.Â Collection has been developed on a pop up concept where the collection would changeÂ every few months. Fabrics included ones inspired by Marine Coffee colorsÂ including colored wefts, super darks with brown tones.

Denim By PV : Autumn–Winter 14/15

The next edition of Denim by PV (for A/W 14-15 collections) will be held at Paris on 22nd and 23rd May 2013. The last show was quite successful and this show has over 100 exhibitors from around the world. The season directions ?? Here is what the show predicts

Under the Autumn Winter 14-15 Big Top, magical illusion flirts with scientific precision, and a light, happy mood goes arm in arm with a rigorous approach.
Fabrics take up space, colour is glorified under the spotlights, fantasy flutters around shapes, trims twirl between maximal and discreet, and silhouettes open up new perspectivesâ€

There will be some interesting events at the show including one by â€œCotton Incâ€. Cotton Incorporated will share industry developments that move trends forward while preserving the authenticity of cotton denim in a seminar on 22nd May at 11am (VIP lounge). Jeanologia â€“ the Spanish laser manufacturer shall present a unique expo â€“ Jeanetics â€“ where garments are presented with an interactive tool . The visitors will be able to see all the processes associated with creation of the garment.

SS ‘14 Denim Trends From Denim By PV
Denim by PV fair at Paris , held on Nov 28/29Â â€˜12 , was a successful event with a large number of visitors from around the world. The show seemed much more busier and positive than the past 3 shows and it indicated that the business in denim is reviving to some extent . I interacted with manyÂ exhibitors and most seemed quite happy with the kind of response and visitors they got from the fair.

Some of the common trends noticed from the fair were :

a) Colors were still strong for SS 14 but they were more toned towards pastel colors . However,Â Â neon shades still exist in many collections.

b)Surface treatments like wax coatings, sheens, leather looks still looked strong .

c) Coatings â€“ still dominate collections of many mills â€“ though the trend is towards finer coatings which add to color depth without being too prominent.

d) Textured denims â€“ are strong with companies playing with different textures and weaves including dobbies, jacquards etc.

We spoke to many mills and we are bringing herewith some videos of those discussions and of course images from the show accompany. At the end is a presentation on the looks and trends from the show. Isko – Turkey

Isko brought out some great fabrics including the
- Loom Fx : Stretch denim for men which looks like rigid .
- First woven denim fabric that looks like knit denim” : TheseÂ are beautiful fabrics and it is difficult to say whether these are knitted or woven.
- Prints
- Wax coatings
- and more â€¦..

Bossa

Bossa is another reputed mill from Turkey. The highlight of their lauch was the indigo shirtings in various designs and textures. A video of discussions with them and images follow !

Crescent

Crescent Bahuman â€“ the denim mill from Pakistan launched their SS â€˜14 collection . The highlights of the fabrics are :

Vintage fabrics to look at the past â€“ old lookÂ but contemporary
Additional details : fantasy â€“ double face â€“ blend fibers
Eclectics : fashionable â€“ printed â€“ contrast â€“ glittered

Tavex

Richard Tobin from Tavex tells that fine coatings on light weight denims for both men and women that Tavex has concentrated on. Check out what he says in this video.

ITV

ITV launched their unique Winetex technology of denim dyeing. Its a unique concept and brings out indigo looks without using indigo and the dyeing is highly eco friendly . Besides, they had lot of colors and prints in their collections . Here is aÂ small video from ITV Winetex description.

Arvind Mills

Arvind denim from India provides the following guidance forÂ SSâ€™

Denim By PV–Nov 28/29

Denim By PV is back again at Paris on 28th and 29th Nov.

Denim By PV At Shanghai Oct ‘12

For the first time , Denim by PV â€“ the famous denim supply chain show – is being held at Shanghai , China .Â The show is dedicated to jeans fabric, which in five years has become the must-attend event for the international jeanswear community (with its last May 2012 edition registering a record 10% growth rate). Denim by PV now exports its unique concept to the Asian continent.

China is the largest manufacturer as well as consumer of denim fabrics worldwide .. It is not a wonder that Denim by PV chose this place to hold its show .The new event, Denim by PremiÃ¨re Vision Asia, addresses the premium jeans market in China, Hong Kong and neighbouring Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Attendance by the top denim buyers and other participants from the denim supply chain is expected from this region as well as from other countries.

For its first edition, Denim by PremiÃ¨re Vision Asia will bring together some forty exhibitors. Worldwide key players such as Soorty Denim , Absolute Denim, Artistic Fabrics Mills, Artistic Milliners, Arvind, Bossa, Candiani, Freedom Denim, Golden Win, Isko, JWS, ITVomano, Montebello, Orta, Realkom, Sartex and Tejidos Royo.
Also present will be major Japanese denim producer Kaihara which, since 1893, has been creating fabrics of exceptional quality, thanks to production methods unmatched in the world of denim.
12 exhibiting countries are represented: Turkey (24%), Pakistan (15%), Italy (12%), Hong Kong (12%), China (10%), Spain, France, Japan, Thailande (5%), Bangladesh, Tunisia, India (2%).
The offer consists of exhibitors from the Paris show joined by companies selected from the region (China, Japan, Southeast Asia).
Denim by PremiÃ¨re Vision Asia aims to underline the added-value of premium jeans and the differentiation it provides, by supplying content that both informs and inspires current or future denim brands.
63% of the exhibitors are denim weavers, 20% integrated denim garments makers, 5% trimmings, complete by Designer Office, Equipment, Fiber and Technology. To show what premium denim is and to illustrate this specific know-how in terms of choice of materials, washing-out, finishing and cut, etc., a Denim by PremiÃ¨re Vision Asia collection will be specially created for the event, in collaboration with Italian experts well known in jeanswear : Umberto Brochetto and Massimo Munari from Creative Room and the laundry Martelli. The collection will be revealed at the show in a denim scenography. To support the understanding of premium denim to the market, Massimo Munari will give a seminar â€œPremium blue waveâ€ at 11.30 each day. Denim by PremiÃ¨re Vision Asia will be held in a building whose spirit is certain to resonate with the denim community: a former cotton mill dating from 1929, whose generous volumes were designed by a Japanese architect.

PremiÃ¨re Vision China will take place Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 October at East Dock in Shanghai. The show offers 2 days for business exchanges and meetings between top textile companies and the best of Chinese fashion professionals. For this 18th edition, dedicated to the Autumn Winter 13/14 season, the show hasÂ 61 participants coming from 11 countries (France, Italy, Turkey, China, Japan, Spain, South Korea, Bulgaria, India, Germany, United Kingdom).

Returning for F/W 13, neppy imperfections update with various effects. LumberJack Looks Fabric

First documented in StylesightÊ¼s Denim Outlook, Runway and Denim Developments, plaid denim continues to diversify. We have been late in bringing the report of trends from Denim by PV for the Spring/Summer 2013. However, its better to be late than never!

Here is a report from Stylesight â€“ the leading trend agency worldwide â€“ on the trends from Denim By PV held in Decâ€™11.

Denim Trends From PV : F/W 2012

Though we are a bit late in posting it , but nevertheless , its good to have see some of the denim and related fabric trends visible in the Premiere Vision held in Paris in September 2011. The trends are shared by Stylesight , a leading provider of trends .

Gently Damaged Textures

Gently aged denim effects were visible via enzyme washing , laundering and over dyeing . Similar looks could be seen in flats also .

Uneven Color :

Irregular dye techniques and exaggerated flock or pile textures create uneven color qualities. Cloudy patinas and washed-out surfaces / Uneven flocking or velvet piles / Corduroy with colored backs / Basket wash cotton and sensor-coated / Random, non-uniform appearances
