TOP 5 COUNTRIES SUPPLYCING DENIM FABRICS TO COLUMBIA

[private_special] In the month of October’18, Columbia has imported approx. 5.45 million sqm of denim fabrics out of which 3.39 million sqm have been exported by these countries. CHINA is the biggest exporter of Denim Fabric to Columbia with a total volume of 2.49 million sqm at an average price of USD 1.58/sqm. India is the 2nd biggest denim supplier which exported 1.23 million sqm of denim fabric at an average price of USD 1.16/sq. Brazil, Mexico, Pakistan, and Ecuador are other major countries which contributed 9%,5%,5% and 4% of the total import of denim fabric of Columbia respectively.

TOP 9 DENIM IMPORTING COMPANIES OF COLUMBIA

So far as the import of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, COLOMBIANA DE COMMERCIO and INTERNACIONAL DE are the biggest importers of denim fabric into Columbia with the total import of 1.13 million sqm and 4.53 lakhs sqm of denim fabric respectively with a cumulative share of 47% in the total import made by these 8 companies into Columbia. PERMODA LTDA is the buyer which has imported the denim fabrics at the most expensive average price i.e., $3.26/sqm and INTERNACIONAL DE has imported at the least average price of USD 1.20/sqm

COLOMBIANA DE COMERCIO

The total import of denim fabric made by COLOMBIANA DE during the month of October’18 is 1.13 million sqm. There are two major suppliers to Colombiana DE – one is Manomay Tex and another is Sangam India Limited. Manomay Tex supplied 683,035 sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.12/sqm and Sangam India supplied 273,061 sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $ 1.14/sqm.

Colombiana de Comercio S.A. distributes electronics, computers, Apparels, appliances, and grocery items. It also distributes and services motorcycles and motorcycle parts. 453,017 sqm of denim fabric has been imported by Internacional De in the month of October’18 at an average price of $1.20/sqm. Zhejiang Xinlan from China is the biggest supplier which supplied approx 83% of the total denim imported at an average price of $1.17/sqm.

Amazon Export has imported 416,538 sqm of denim fabric in the month of October 2018 out of which Zhejiang Jinsuo supplied 225,260 sqm and Phonix International supplied 136,182 sqm at an average price of $1.21/sqm and $1.48/sqm.

PRIMATELA SA

The total import of denim fabric made by PRIMATELA during the month of October’18 is 289,980 sqm. There are only suppliers of PRIMATELA – one is the Next ERA and another is Zhejiang Tengma. Next Era supplied 161,317 sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.82/sqm and Zhejiang supplied 128,661 sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $ 1.57/sqm.

280,394 sqm of denim fabric has been imported by Comertex SA in the month of October’18 at an average price of $1.40/sqm. Vicuna Textil from Brazil is the biggest supplier which supplied 202,015 sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.49/sqm. The rest has been imported from Tejidos San at an average price of $1.16/sqm.

Out of 7 suppliers, Signet Denim From India is the biggest supplier with the export volume of 73,230 sqm and Zhejiang Tengma from China is the second biggest suppliers with the total volume of 67,596 sqm. Average Price at which Signet is supplying is $1.14/sqm and Zhejiang is supplying at $1.65/sqm.

PERMODA LTDA

Permoda has bought all its denim from MPVR Trading Company at an average price of USD 3.26/Sqm. The total denim imported for the month of Oct’18 was 209,789 sqm.

SHAOXING KEQIAO From China is the biggest supplier with the export volume of 70,335 sqm and WinWin Textile from China is the second biggest suppliers with the total volume of 28,140 sqm. TOP 10 DENIM GARMENT IMPORTERS

During the period of early Dec’17- early Dec’18, India has imported approx 8 million pcs of denim garments out of which 6.4 million pcs have been imported by these 10 companies. Future Group is the biggest importer of Denim Garments with a total volume of 1.67 million pcs at an average price of USD 5.66/Pc. Aditya Birla is the 2nd biggest denim buyer which imported 1.52 million pcs , slightly lesser than Future Group, at an average price of USD 8.89/Pc. Myntra Jabong, which is one of the biggest e-commerce companies in India, stood at #10 with the total volume of 267,499 pcs at an average price of USD 9.25/Pc. The list includes retailers like Arvind, H&M, Levis and Only Retail also details of which you will find later in the report.

MAJOR SUPPLYING COUNTRIES

Bangladesh has 78% share in the total denim imports of India during Dec’17- Dec’18. Out of a total 6.4 million pcs imported by top 10 buyers, Bangladesh alone contributed 5 million pcs. China and Cambodia are the next two big countries. However, so far as the volume is concerned, these two countries are way behind Bangladesh. The share of China in the total import of Denim is 7% and Cambodia contributes just 3% in the total imports of Denim. Vietnam, Singapore, and Pakistan are other countries which are on the list.

FUTURE GROUP

16,63,105 pcs of Denim Garments imported from Bangladesh alone by Future Group out of the total imports 16,73,636 pcs which accounts for 99% of its total import, the rest have been imported from China and Srilanka. The average price at which Future Group is buying from Bangladesh is $5.64 and from Sri Lanka is $5.47. The average price of China is high and is selling the denim garments at the double price of what Bangladesh and Srilanka are selling. The average price from China during Dec’17 –Dec’18 stood at $10.17. However, due to low volume from China, it is not very relevant.  Main supplier country for all practical purposes is Bangladesh for Future Group.

The Future group is one of the biggest retailers in India with having a presence in more than 250 cities across the country. ADITYA BIRLA

11,14,151 pcs of Denim Garments imported from Bangladesh alone by Aditya Birla Group out of the total imports 15,26,260 pcs which accounts for 73% of the total import, the rest have been imported from China and Singapore. The average price at which Aditya Birla Group is buying from Bangladesh is $ 6.78/Pc. The average price of Singapore and China stand at $15.70/Pc and $10.65/Pc respectively. So far as the volume is concerned, China’s share is 17% in the total import and 9% has been shared by Singapore.

Adita Birla group is one of the largest retailers in India. ARVIND FASHIONS/LIFESTYLE BRANDS

Bangladesh and Vietnam are two major exporting countries for Arvind Group, during Dec’17 – Dec’18 the company has imported total 693,755 denim garments pcs out of which Bangladesh contributed 445,149 pcs and Vietnam 169,734 pcs. Bangladesh again wins the race when it comes to competitive pricing, Germany looks most expensive. The average price at which Arvind is buying from Bangladesh is $7.76/pc and from Vietnam, they are buying at $11.73/Pc. So far as the % Share is concerned, Bangladesh and Vietnam have 64% and 24% of share in the total imports of denim garments by Arvind.

H&M’s importing portfolio in India consists of 4 major countries – Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia, and Turkey. Bangladesh exported 252,534 pcs of denim garments at an average price of $ 6.89/Pc. Pakistan, on the other hand, contributed 27% of the total imports of H&M in India with the volume of 123,469 pcs at an average price of 9.02/Pc. . Cambodia seems the least expensive among all the exporting countries and Turkey the most expensive one.

H&M is one of the largest apparel retailers in the world and has made debut in India recently. The company has been aggressively expanding in India and within a couple of years , the company has over 30 stores in India. The company is not only targeting the Metro cities but also expanding into the Tier II cities. In its Q3’18 , H&M total India sales was 47.08 million USD which was 49% more than the Q3’17 . ONLY RETAIL

Cambodia and Bangladesh  are two major exporting countries for ONLY RETAIL , during Dec’17 – Dec’18 the company has imported total 421,165 denim garments pcs out of which Bangladesh contributed 107,514 pcs and Cambodia 160,352 pcs. Myanmar exported the denim garments at the least price and Turkey again is the most expensive. The average price at which Only Reatail is buying from Bangladesh is $7.98/pc and from Cambodia , they are buying at $7.84/Pc. So far as the % Share is concerned, Bangladesh and Cambodia have 26% and 38% of share in the total imports of denim garments by Only Retail.

237,109 pcs of Denim Garments imported from Bangladesh alone by Levis out of the total imports 3,40,243 pcs which accounts for 69% of the total import, the rest have been imported from Cambodia and Srilanka. Average price at which Levis is buying from Bangladesh is $8.97/Pc . The average price of Cambodia and Sri Lanka stand at $8.78/Pc and $11.57/Pc respectively.

Levis is too famous a company to write anything about. Its India division has been doing quite well specially in the last one year and it has a turnover of over of over USD 120 million in 2018.

FINESSE FASHION

The company has imported all the denim garments from Bangladesh during the aforesaid period and the total import was 3,09,228 pcs at an average price of $8.78/Pc .

Finesse fashion is holding their own brand Rookies which they are retailing in India. The company has strong connections in Bangladesh with their own factories and that is from where they are able to source the garments at reasonable price and quality. They are strongly connected to Armana Group of Bangladesh.

CHANDRA MUKHI

The company has imported all the denim garments from Bangladesh during the aforesaid period and the total import was 2,75,638 pcs at an average price of $3.73/Pc.

Chandra Mukhi is again a wholesaler and retail company based in Kolkatta, West Bengal, India. The company is importing and retailing jeans and other products from Bangladesh mainly.

MYNTRA JABONG

1,62,154 pcs of Denim Garments imported from Bangladesh alone by Myntra Jabong out of the total imports 267,499 pcs which accounts for 61% of the total import, the rest have been imported from China, Spain, UK and Turkey. Average price at which Myntra is buying from Bangladesh is $6.67/Pc and from China is $11.25. Average price of China is high and its overall cost will be still higher because of duty preference that Bangladesh gets . The average price from Spain during Dec’17 –Dec’18 stood at $15.68, the highest among all.
