In our previous report, we talked about the turkey’s declining exports of denim fabrics to EU, in this report we’ve analyzed the Jeans exports of Turkey to the EU for H1 period of years 2017 to 2019 to understand whether Turkey is doing well in terms of their jeans exports to EU or not. We went into details of first 6 months of last three years to analyse the same.

Jeans Export To EU
Jeans export from Turkey to the EU has been decreasing for the past two years. During Jan-June ’18, the export witnessed a plunge of 9% and dropped at 38.32 million pcs. During Jan-June’19, it further dipped by 3% and fell to 37.25 million pcs.
Average Price on the other hand also decreased over the years due to increased competition from other regions. During Jan-June’17, the average price of a jeans exported from Turkey to EU was Euro 13.20/pc which reached to the level of Euro 12.01/pc during Jan-June19, a fall of 9%

Jeans Export – Men Vs Women
Turkey is understandably more into Women Denim as it caters to fast fashion and its share is 60% of the total export of Jeans. The average price of Women denim is more competitive than Men’s denim. The average price of Women denim revolved around Euro 11-12/pc however the price of Men’s denim remained constant around Euro13/pc.
Since the total export of jeans fell, so the export of Men’s and Women Jeans. The highest fall of 10% reported during Jan-June’2018 in the export of Men’s Denim, during the same period, Women’s denim export also dipped by 8%.

The above charts and graphs give us a good idea of how the Turkish denim industry is performing when it comes to exports of Jeans to EU countries. Though Turkey is still a formidable force in this market , it is losing share every year with competition specially from Pakistan, Bangaldesh , Egypt, Tunisia , Morocco and other locations.
