    Dsquared2 Spring 2017 Menswear Collection !

Dsquared is known for its penchant to bring out designs totally removed from the mainstream.  Sometimes outlandish,  sometimes weird, sometimes real cool and sometimes just bizarre ! . In all their collections one can find mix of these elements. The Spring 2017 collection was no different. Whereas the denims were cool – with some right destructions and acid washes , the footwear selection was male models was feminine – giving hints of homosexuality in some respects.

The boots with 6 inch heels were very fashionable – many with silver panelling and star studding. Dean and Dan Caten , themselves in knee high star panelled boots,  made model selections keeping in mind the very typical nature of the collection. Most of the models managed to walk with the high heeled footwear though !.

    G-Star Raw : The Staq(ck)ing Effect !

G-Star  is always at the helm of technology development and creative applications in the denim industry. Some of the most innovative looks have emanated from the brand. This time its the STAQ(CKI)NG EFFECT IN JEANS !. It continues  to modernize its denim range with the creative consultancy of innovative designer and visual artist, Aitor Throup. The inventive technicalities behind the stacking effect that gives the jeans their name are characteristic of both G-Star and Throup.

The way to achieve  this stacking effect is by having a  continuous tape runs down the inner and outer seams of the jean legs, tacked in specific places, creating the iconic three-dimensional aesthetic.

    G-Star Raw : Stack–The Evaluation of 3D Denim

    Staq :

The Staq jean is a hybrid of traditional jeans and chinos. The latest evolution in 3D Denim, the Staq uses a new method of 3D construction with an internal taping system that creates its 3D structure and ‘stacked’ leg – an effect labelled by young denim heads when jeans naturally gather at the lower leg.

    G-Star Raw : Stack–The Evaluation of 3D Denim

    Features :

Engineered with deeply rippled stacks that rise up the legs, the Staq is the next generation of 3D denim. Thanks to specially engineered seams, the Staq keeps its crumpled texture regardless of wear and laundering.

Google and Levi’s Present The First Smart Jeans For Urban Cyclists : Project Jacquard

Levi's® Commuter™ x Jacquard by Google Trucker Jacket

Continuing our previous report on Project Jacquard by Google and Levis , its heartening to know that Levi’s is taking its collaboration with Google ATAP to the next level by introducing a commuter denim jacket. The collaboration, which comes under Project Jacquard, works toward establishing a new, scalable system which weaves technology components into standard fabrics and textiles.

The jacket was announced on 20th May, 2016 at Google I/O, the result of a year-long effort between the Levi’s® Innovation team and Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) group under the banner of Project Jacquard.

The discreetly placed Jacquard technology is literally woven into the jacket, allowing for simple gestures like tapping or swiping on a sleeve to activate functionality. Of course you can wash it, just like you do with any other jacket. This perfect pairing showcases the knowledge and know-how of Google ATAP’s Jacquard team with the performance power of the Levi’s® Commuter line, which is designed to perform as great as it looks. The Jacquard team then adds a smart tag — which looks like a normal jean jacket button — to provide feedback to the user. The smart tag would be the equivalent to a smart watch; it’s packed with LEDs and haptic sensors to alert of phone notifications and such. Levi’s mainly advertised the jacket for urban bike commuters, but it seems ideal for anyone, since it looks like any other Levi’s Commuter jacket.

Levi's® Commuter™ x Jacquard by Google Trucker Jacket

“Anyone on a bike knows that navigating your screen while navigating busy city streets isn’t easy – or a particularly good idea,” said Paul Dillinger, head of global product innovation for Levi Strauss & Co. “This jacket helps to resolve that real-world challenge by becoming the co-pilot for your life, on and off your bike.”

During last year’s Google I/O conference, the Levi’s brand became Google ATAP’s first partner on Project Jacquard, which credited the brand for being authentic, innovative and fashionable.

Our innovation story began with the invention of the blue jean, which turns 143 years old today, but that was merely the first chapter. From the debut of the first jeans for women in 1934 to the revolutionary work that goes on in our Eureka Innovation Lab today, Levi Strauss & Co. brands are constantly innovating to solve the needs of our consumers.

The Levi’s® Commuter™ Trucker jacket is expected to be available beginning spring 2017 in select Levi’s® stores and on Levi.com.

The future of Turkey’s denim sector depends on its efforts in marketing and promotion. Production needs to be enhanced, and the country must make a stronger stand in global markets and participate in international events in order to maintain its position in the EU market. With its major fashion jeans brands such as Mavi, LTB, Colin’s, Rodi Mood, Loft and Collezione, Turkey should develop other brands and products that have the potential to conquer new markets in the US, EU, Africa and Asia. Export figures for the last six years show that not only does Turkey have the capacity, but also that that it has the capability to produce high added-value products.
