Pre Fall 2017 Denim Looks – Diesel , Chloe , Cavalli

Pre Fall 2017 looks have been shared by some labels and we share the same with our readers. While See By Chloé  comes out with some very simple and back to nature kind of looks with frayed edges, long unwashed denim coats, subtle laser designs etc. Diesel Black Gold also choses to go plain with minor mashups and fabric mixes with largely unwashed denims and raw lustrous fabrics. Roberto Cavalli in his flamboyant style goes extravagant mashups in his jeans using embroideries, paints, sprays and much more. Fabric quality does lose some of its importance in such strong denim mashups !

Good American Label From Khloe Kardarshian Grosses High Launch Sales

Khloe Kardashian brings out a new denim brand – Good American– to celebrate the ‘Real Woman’ . The brand emerging out of conversation between Khloe Kardashian of the famous Kardashian family and Emma Grede , the brand aims to look away from the celebrity , super model looks to promote their label and bring out the real woman who is not the super slim, ultra figure conscious with 36-24-36 statistics . She is the woman who has average looks and figure , even off balance figure stats , but who is happy and confident with what she is and wants to celebrate herself without being under pressure to be someone else.

“We believe everybody deserves to be shown off. Fashion should be made to fit women, not the other way around. Body ideals really have shifted in the last few years”, Khloe and Emma discuss.

“Whenever we bought new jeans, it was hard for us to find a pair that fit our body types, and even when we did they’d always need alterations. We knew if we both had this problem, there must be tons of girls who did too. So we set out to make a denim line that’s sexy and flattering, and made to fit you – not the other way round.”

    Good American Denim

Good American jeans are made in USA  using more of hand made processes. It is what they claim makes their premium denim so special. They chose to make their jeans in America, using the imported fabrics for an optimal fit.

    Hand Made Good American Denim

The brand relied on social media marketing to spread the awareness about their jeans. With sizes ranging from 00 to 24 , the label relied on social-media marketing to tease customers leading up to its debut, featuring women of all shapes and sizes wearing the product on its Instagram page. And this proved to be very successful with the first day sale crossing ” USD 1 MILLION” . That’s quite a number but since celebrity name is involved , its not too much of a surprise as celebrity name does give an initial push. It remains to be seem whether the label can make a difference to the jeans world as did many other premium labels have done in the past including 7 For All Mankind, J Brand and others.

Denim And Knit Mix By Filipino Designer For Amazon Fashion Week

Denim knows no end when it comes to versatility. Used alone or in conjunction with any material, denim just blends so easily. Designers use this strength of the fabric to come out with their own interpretations of what a great next denim look might be.  Seph Bagasao from Philippines went for her own interpretation of this versatility by mixing denim and knits to showcase a collection named “Scars of Beauty” at the Amazon Fashion Week in Tokyo.

Deconstruction , fringes and conjunction the main theme for this collection. Frayed edges , open hems and simplistic conjunctions with knits and other fabrics bring out the boho effect of the collection. In this article we cover the denim looks from Joseph as well as from some other designers including Bench and Carl Jan Curz.

  • VF Corp. Sells 7 For All Mankind, Splendid and Ella Moss to Delta Galil For US$120 Million

VF Corp. Sells 7 For All Mankind, Splendid and Ella Moss to Delta Galil For US$120 Million

VF Corporation , one of the biggest premium apparel brand, recently announced to sell its contemporary brands business to Israeli textile company Delta Galil Industries Ltd. for a consideration of US$120 million under its reconstruction scheme. Struggling with sales volumes and constant downfall in the profit , VF had to go for this decision. Over the past twelve months , VF Corp’s stock has fallen by 13% and the shares were traded down 7 cents to US$ 60.56. The contemporary brands segment includes denim brands such as 7 For All Mankind, and lifestyle apparel brands like Ella Moss and Splendid. The segment had sales of $344 million last year, or about 2.8% of VF Corp.’s total revenue.

The 7 For All Mankind brands is in the denim category, while Splendid and Ella Moss is in sportswear. VF bought Seven For All Mankind LLC for $775 million in August 2007.It acquired the rights to Ella Moss and Splendid in two separate asset transactions of its owner, Mo Industries Holdings Inc., which was completed in March 2009. Overall, it spent $238 million on the Mo Industries assets, as well as paying $47 million in Mo Industries net debt. The Contemporary Brands division was a clear underperformer in VF’s portfolio in recent years. Divisional sales dropped 14 percent in fiscal 2015 to $344 million – representing just 2.8 percent of total company revenue. Sales were off 15 percent in the first quarter of fiscal 2016 to $74 million.Impairment charges taken on the brands just in fiscal 2015 exceeded what VF is getting in the deal.

The company reported the downfall of 17.6 % in the sales of its Contemporary Brand in the first quarter of 2016 as compared to the same quarter of last year.In Q1 2015, the total sales revenue from the Contemporary Brand was US$ 87.5 Million however it reduced to US$ 74.4 Million in the Q1 2016. The Profit for the same segment seems to be more distressing as it registered a massive downfall of 51.4% comparing the figures of the same quarter of last year. During the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015, VF’s reduction of the goodwill values of the three brands resulted in a $97 million after-tax charge. That followed a $396.4 million write-down of goodwill with the same brands in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2104, resulting in a $307 million after-tax charge.

    G-Star Raw : The Staq(ck)ing Effect !

G-Star  is always at the helm of technology development and creative applications in the denim industry. Some of the most innovative looks have emanated from the brand. This time its the STAQ(CKI)NG EFFECT IN JEANS !. It continues  to modernize its denim range with the creative consultancy of innovative designer and visual artist, Aitor Throup. The inventive technicalities behind the stacking effect that gives the jeans their name are characteristic of both G-Star and Throup.

The way to achieve  this stacking effect is by having a  continuous tape runs down the inner and outer seams of the jean legs, tacked in specific places, creating the iconic three-dimensional aesthetic.

    G-Star Raw : Stack–The Evaluation of 3D Denim

    Staq :

The Staq jean is a hybrid of traditional jeans and chinos. The latest evolution in 3D Denim, the Staq uses a new method of 3D construction with an internal taping system that creates its 3D structure and ‘stacked’ leg – an effect labelled by young denim heads when jeans naturally gather at the lower leg.

    G-Star Raw : Stack–The Evaluation of 3D Denim

    Features :

Engineered with deeply rippled stacks that rise up the legs, the Staq is the next generation of 3D denim. Thanks to specially engineered seams, the Staq keeps its crumpled texture regardless of wear and laundering.

  • First Denim Sportswear Show In Vietnam | June 2016

First Denim Sportswear Show In Vietnam | June 2016

After holding five successful and consecutives denim shows in Bangladesh, Denimsandjeans eyes the potential of Vietnamese Apparel and Textile Industry. This exhibition will bring some of the most reputed local and international mills and supply chain partners together at one platform keeping Denim and Sportswear segment in the focus.

Denimsandjeans.com Vietnam : The First Ever Show In Vietnam

Increasing approximately at 19 per cent compared to 2013, Vietnam’s textile and garment exports have crossed US$ 24 billion in 2015 says the largest textile group in Vietnam – Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) . Denim is a growing segment of apparel sourced from Vietnam and is likely to witness significant growth in coming years. The Vietnamese textile industry, with more than 3,800 companies, is the country’s leading export sector. The country ranks fifth worldwide in textile and apparel exports and has a labor force in that sector of more than 2 million people, of whom 1.3 million are working directly in the industry. Many textile and garment companies in the region have already begun to move production to Vietnam. Major U.S. retailers such as Sara Lee, JC Penney, Express, the Gap, Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, Mast Industries and American Eagle source a sizeable portion of their imports from Vietnam.

According to reports, the focus of Vietnam is not only US as Vietnam is also negotiating free trade agreements (FTAs) with several other countries including the EU. The duties on exports to EU from Vietnam are likely to reduce to zero over the next few years. The exact details of the duty structures would be available soon as the FTA with the EU is inked. Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, the most awaited bilateral trade instrument which is expected to be signed somewhere next year has already charged the market of speculations. Experts predict that the TPP would likely raise Vietnam’s garment and textile exports to the US to US$55 billion by 2025.

This agreement with US is very close to finalization and it is under their top most priority in order to bring the garment and apparel industry of Vietnam on top. One of the tough competitors, China is lagging behind because of its expensive labor cost and in meanwhile this agreement with US will be an icing on cake for Vietnam as it unfolds new opportunities for Vietnam.

China presently accounts for a 37 percent share in the US textile and apparel market, while Vietnam only has an 8 percent share. If the TPP deal is inked, it would help Vietnam to manage to take away 10 percent points share from China, as Vietnamese textiles and apparels would then enjoy greater benefits than products from China, which does not form a part of the TPP agreement. This is likely to give huge push to the industry.

Denim and sportswear is an important part of the whole apparel industry in US , EU and worldwide. With increased apparel activity in Vietnam, this sub sector is likely to witness decent growth.

To focus on the sportswear industry, Denimsandjeans.com brings out its maiden show in Vietnam on 16th and 17th June at HCMC and shall bring some of the most reputed local fabric and apparel manufacturers, and international mills, chemical and accessory suppliers in the supply chain together at one place. The event shall aim to be a premium sourcing location for a large number of international buyers coming to Vietnam to look for apparel sourcing.

The show shall be held at Gem Centre – a beautiful venue with an amazing  wooden architecture and completely aligned with the theme of denim. Denimsandjeans.com hopes the event shall serve as a platform for the sportswear supply chain industry in this region.

Vietnam is a growing apparel exporting country . It is already the fourth largest exporter of apparel after China, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. With the country likely to benefit from TPP and FREE TRADE agreements with EU , once they are signed, it is already the focus of many apparel companies around the world. The country is very optimistic about its potential of growth in the coming years :

“Viet Nam has around 4,000 garment factories employing about 2.5 million workers. Garments and textiles are one of the core benefits for us with the TPP agreement,”  says Deputy MoIT Minister Tran Quoc Khanh.

Increasing approximately at 19 per cent compared to 2013, Vietnam’s textile and garment exports have crossed US$ 24 billion in 2014 says the largest textile group in Vietnam – Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) . Dsquared2 Fall 2016 Menswear Denim Trends

Dsquared , for their Fall’16 collection, merged the Japanese and British design sensibilities . Shortened Japanese Judo jackets  combined with big Samurai skirts and tailored torsos onto half-kilt-pleated skirts. Thrown into the mix were print collage and  porny manga pinups . Great Britain meets Japan in a lineup that plays off the two cultures anchored in Dsquared2 DNA of denim, leather and graphics.

The collection finds its edge riffing on volume and texture. Sportswear shapes of supersized anoraks, bomber jackets are in jacquard kimono inspired fabrics, embroidered satin and leather. A metallic peacoat is cut from crumply silver nylon paper. Doubled up outerwear is constructed with long wool overcoats on the outside and a down jacket on the interior. Karate style fold-over shirts are layered underneath.

Wide pants, shorts and jeans are defined by punk kilt overskirts. Zipping into trousers and jackets, the kilts hang askew, a graphic frame to each look. Fabricated in indigo denim, check and silk and wool, they fall at the knee or swoosh to the floor, recalling Japanese warriors and clerical cassocks. Signature Dsquared2 styling, a shirt tied around the waist is reiterated in a kilt constructed with check shirtsleeves that knot at the waist.

Manga culture influences a House exclusive explosive print on a satin parka, inset into a denim jacket and a rucksack. Fluorescent green and pink bolt studs like a series of computer dots cover leather jackets and skirts.

Iconic Japanese floral designs appear on indigo denim. Wide-legged jeans have detailed fading, darn and repair work.

Shoes are designed to accent the collection’s diverse styles. Chunky bagpiper influenced boots with trekking lacing are worn with the kilts. Pointed white and black lace-ups with raised soles are a sharp, clean finish to the bright Manga print.
