The exports of denim fabrics from India have been good even during the covid times and after successful June & July 2020, India has maintained consistency during August & Sept 2020 in exports to Columbia. . India once again was ahead of other countries post the pandemic recovery phase and became the largest exporter of denim fabrics to Colombia during October 2020.

We analyze all the imports into Columbia in this report besides listing major denim fabric importers in COLOMBIA during October 2020 and analyzed the volume and average price along with the countries from where they are buying. The contents of this report are as below:

TOP COUNTRIES SUPPLYING DENIM FABRICS TO COLOMBIA

In the month of October 2020, Colombia has imported approx. 3.9 million sqm of denim fabrics. With 1.63 million sqm of denim fabric export, India strongly positioned itself as the #1 exporter of denim to Colombia, India is now ahead of China whose share reduced up to 31.37% in the total import.

China exported 1.24 million sqm of denim fabrics at an average price of $1.56/sqm.

(Note: this data has been captured from various govt organizations including customs. the actual imports are likely to be higher than this figure .)

As far as the average price is concerned, India’s average price turned to be one of the most competitive amongst all i.e, $1.05/sq meter. Turkey exported the fabric at the most expensive average price of USD 3.19/Sqm. Perhaps this low price can explain the larger share that India is getting in the market .

India is at #1 with a 41.1% share and China slipped to #2 with a 31.4% share.

TOP DENIM EXPORTERS TO COLOMBIA

So far as the denim exporters are concerend Loyal Kingdom Corp (India) and Vicunha Textile (Brazil)  are the biggest exporters of denim fabric to Colombia with a total import of 332 thousand sqm and 316 thousand sqm of denim fabric respectively. MPVR Trading supplied at the most expensive average price i.e., $2.12/sqm.

TOP DENIM IMPORTING COMPANIES OF COLOMBIA

So far as the import of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, JOHN URIBE and VICUNHA COLOMBIA  are the biggest importers of denim fabric into Colombia with a total import of 705 thousand sqm and 345 thousand sqm of denim fabric respectively. PERMODA LTDA is the buyer which has imported the denim fabrics at the most expensive average price i.e., $2.12/sqm.

JOHN URIBE E HIJOS SA

The total import of denim fabric made by JOHN URIBE during October 2020 was 705 thousand sqm. RB Industries and ZHEJIANG BLUEDREAM TEXTILE from China are the two biggest suppliers which supplied 1.31 lacs sqm and 1.15 lacs sqm of denim fabric respectively.

COUNTRIES SUPPLYING DENIM FABRICS TO MEXICO DURING OCTOBER 2020

In the month of October 2020, Mexico has imported approx. 8.27 million sqm of denim fabrics. CHINA is the biggest exporter of Denim Fabric to Mexico with a total volume of about 7.64 million sqm contributing more than 92% in total import of denim. India is the 2nd biggest denim supplier which exported 0.40 million sqm of denim fabric.

TOP COMPANIES IMPORTING DENIM IN MEXICO

So far as the import of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, Lucios De Mexico and Bemmar Instalaciones Y are the two biggest importers of denim fabric into Mexico with a total import of 2.83 million sqm and 2.03 million sqm of denim fabric respectively.

TOP COMPANIES EXPORTING DENIM TO MEXICO

So far as the export of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, Chinese companies are ruling the list. Zhejiang Sansen and Zhejiang Tengma  are the two biggest exporters of denim fabric to Mexico with a total export of 1.47 million sqm and 1.40 million sqm of denim fabric respectively.

ZHEJIANG SANSEN is the biggest supplier of denim fabric to Lucios during October,2020 . It has supplied 1.47 million sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.37/sqm. SUZHOU SHENRUI is the 2nd biggest supplier to Lucios which supplied 0.51 million sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.39/sqm.

TOP COUNTRIES SUPPLYING DENIM FABRICS TO COLOMBIA

In the month of Aug-Sept 2020, Colombia has imported approx. 4.50 million sqm of denim fabrics.

With 1.61 million sqm of denim fabric export, India strongly positioned itself against the #1 China during Aug-Sept 2020. CHINA, on the other hand being the biggest exporter of Denim Fabric to Colombia contributed 36.78% in the total import.

China exported 1.65 million sqm of denim fabrics at an average price of $1.53/sqm.

As far as the average price is concerned, India’s average price turned to be one of the most competitive amongst all i.e, $1.22/sq meter. Italy exported the fabric at the most expensive average price of USD 3.83/Sqm. Perhaps this low price can explain the larger share that India is getting in the market .

India is at #2 with a 35.9% share and China emerged again as #1 with a 36.8% share.

TOP DENIM IMPORTING COMPANIES OF COLOMBIA

So far as the import of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, JOHN URIBE and SURTIJEANS  are the biggest importers of denim fabric into Colombia with a total import of 456 thousand sqm and 409 thousand sqm of denim fabric respectively. PERMODA LTDA is the buyer which has imported the denim fabrics at the most expensive average price i.e., $2.09/sqm.

COUNTRY WISE DENIM EXPORTS JUNE 2020

There are 8 major countries from where Vietnam imported approx. 99% of its total denim import. 82.42% of denim imported from China at an average price of $3.59/meter, other countries which are exporting denim to Vietnam include Turkey, Taiwan, Pakistan, and Japan. Vietnam imported 6.2 million meters of denim during June 2020 at an average price of $3.60/meter.

Note: This figure is likely to be much higher as the full data is normally not captured in the figures received from various authorities.

Italy exported the denim at the most expensive average price of $5.26/meter and Thailand exported at the cheapest average price of $2.57/meter.

So far as the leading denim buyers are concerned, During the month of June 2020, the top four denim buyers are as below:

COUNTRY WISE DENIM EXPORTS SEPT 2020

There are 8 major countries from where Vietnam imported approx. 97% of its total denim import. 70% of denim imported from China at an average price of $2.99/meter, other countries which are exporting denim to Vietnam include Pakistan, Korea, and Japan. Vietnam imported 5.3 million meters of denim during Jan-April 2020 at an average price of $3.12/meter.

Note: This figure is likely to be much higher as the full data is normally not captured in the figures recd from various authorities.

Turkey exported the denim at the most expensive average price of $5.82/meter and Hong Kong exported at the cheapest average price of $2.77/meter.

COMPANY WISE DENIM EXPORTS TO VIETNAM

So far as the leading denim suppliers are concerned, During the period of Jan-April 20202, the top two denim suppliers were as below:

1. CRYSTAL APPAREL LIMITED â€“ Total Denim imported was 9.14 lacs meters at an average price of $2.90/m. The total share in export is 17.25%. Crystal Apparel exported denim from Bangladesh, China, and Taiwan mills.
2. ADVANCE DENIM LIMITED â€“ Total Denim imported was 2.96 lacs meters at an average price of $4.46/m. The total share in export is 4.75%. Most of the fabric bought by Saitex and PPJ Vietnam.

AURELIA APPARELS LIMITED supplied the fabrics at the least average price of $2.28/m and ADVANCE DENIM at the most expensive price of $4.46/m.

Leading Fabric Buyers

So far as the leading denim buyers are concerned, During the period of Jan-April 20202, the top four denim buyers are as below:

1. SAITEX: Total denim was bought by Saitex was 5.39 lacs meters at an average price of $5.10/m. Advance Denim(China), Artistic Milliners(Pakistan), Kilim Denim(Turkey), and Sanko (Turkey) are the main suppliers for SAITEX.
2. Vietnam Yi Da Company Limited: Total denim was bought by Vietnam Yi Da was 5.04 lacs meters at an average price of $3.03/meter. All the denim supplied to Vietnam Yi Da by Crystal Apparels.
3. International Phong Phu Corporation(PPJ): PPJ bought 4.20 lacs meters at an average price of $3.45/meter. Advance Denim, Artistic Milliners, Foshan Lisheng Textile, Kipas Textile, and Prosperity were some of the major suppliers to PPJ.
4. Long Binh ICD Tan Cang: The company imported 2.91 lacs meter at an average price of $3.48/meter. All the fabrics were bought from Shargatex Luxury Denim/Chu Hang: Y H Texpert Corporation.

Covid 19 has had a major impact on various industries globally and textile/apparel is one of the worst-hit. Denim being a part of this industry is even more hit with most large retailers around the world shutting doors on their stores.

India exports a lot of denim fabrics and in this report, we analyze how the impact of Covid19 can be seen on the exports. We are covering the denim export from India in September 2020.

COUNTRY WISE DENIM EXPORTS SEPT 2020

There are 11 major countries where India exported approx. 78% of its total exports. The list primarily included Bangladesh, Egypt, Colombia, the USA, Mexico, and Sri Lanka. Total export from India stood at 15.13 million meters at an average price of $1.86/meter.

In Sept 2020, Egypt emerged as the 2nd biggest export destination for Indian Denim Mills with a total export of 1.25 million meters followed by Colombia with 1.02 million meters. Bangladesh remained the biggest denim export destination, though there has a fall of approx. two million meters from March 2020 denim export figures. In March 2020 Bangladesh bought 6.63 million meters and in March 2019 the import was more than 9.5 million meters. In other words, If we compare the figures for Sept 2020 with March 2019, the fall would be close to 50%.

Bangladesh used to have a 40-50% share in the total Indian denim fabric export however during Covid and Post Covid, it is being said that Bangladesh is mostly buying from its local denim mills and has reduced its dependence on overseas mills including Indian mills.

Apart from that, there have been unreasonable delays faced at Custom Clearance due to which shipments are getting delivered with a delay of 3-4 weeks, that might be a reason as to why the correct figures have not been captured, having said that, that is going to affect 1-2 % of export data, not that much which we have been witnessed in this report.

COMPANY WISE DENIM EXPORTS

So far as the leading denim suppliers are concerned, In the month Sept’20, the top five denim suppliers were as below:

1. ARVIND LIMITED â€“ Total Denim Exported was 3.01 million meters at an average price of $2.66/m. The total share in export is 19.71%. Bangladesh, Jordan, Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Lesotho, Madagascar, and Turkey are the major markets for Arvind Denim.
2. JINDAL WORLDWIDE LTD â€“ Total Denim Exported was 1.65 million meters at an average price of $1.81/m. The total share in export is 14.36%. The Republic of Korea, Guatemala, Chile, Lebnan, Lesotho, and the USA are major exporting countries for Jindal.
3. SANGAM INDIA LIMITED â€“ Total Denim Exported was 1.40 million meters at an average price of $1.91/m. The total share in export is 9.15%. USA, Madagascar, Mexico, Colombia, and Thailand are major exporting countries for Sangam India.
4. MANOMAY TEX INDIA LIMITED – Total Denim Exported was 1.28 million meters at an average price of $1.74/m. The total share in export is 8.39%. Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and the USA are the major markets for Manomay Tex.
5. Raymond UCO DENIM. – Total Denim Exported was 1.22 million meters at the highest average price of $2.82/m. The total share in export is 8.02%. Bangladesh, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Netherlands are the major markets for Raymond UCO Denim.

Nandan Denim supplied the fabrics at the least average price of $1.17/m and Raymond UCO Denim at the most expensive price of $2.82/m.

With 2.59 million sqm of denim fabric export, India strongly positioned itself as #1 exporter to Colombia during June-July 2020 however CHINA, which happened to be the biggest exporter of Denim Fabric to Colombia, continues to lose its share and now with 28.35% share, it is at #2 during June-July’20.

China exported 1.85 million sqm of denim fabrics at an average price of $1.57/sqm.

So far as the import of denim fabric by different companies are concerned, JOHN URIBE and PRODUCTORA DE TEXTILES DE TOCANCIPA SA TOPTEX SA are the biggest importers of denim fabric into Colombia with a total import of 1.2 million sqm and 1.004 million sqm of denim fabric respectively. PERMODA LTDA is the buyer which has imported the denim fabrics at the most expensive average price i.e., $2.37/sqm.

The total import of denim fabric made by JOHN URIBE during June-July 2020 was 1.26 million sqm. Out of many RB Industries from India is the biggest supplier which supplied 4.19 lacs sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.13/sqm

The company has imported all of its fabric from Gloabaltex Import and Export Corp based in India at an average price of $1.41/sqm.

Zhejiang Xinlan emerged as one of the biggest suppliers to Surtijeans SA during June-July 2020, the company supplied 2.09 lacs sqm of denim fabric at an average price of $1.63/sqm.

POLJEANS SA

POLJEANS imported 5.10 lacs sqm of denim fabrics from June-July 2020, most of its fabric exported by JALSEN INC, a company based in Venezuela at an average price of $1.24/sqm.
